A Five-Year Review of Adverse Cutaneous Drug Reaction in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Background: The prevalence of adverse drug reactions is likely to increase, and it associated with increased usage various drugs. Adverse Cutaneous Drug Reaction (ACDR) the most frequent reaction (30–45%). In Indonesia, study on ACDR still limited. Purpose: This investigated prevalence, clinical features, causative agents, mortality rate a type-IV hypersensitivity among patients attending Department Dermatology Venereology in Dr. Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta. Methods: retrospective was conducted examining medical records undertaken for five years (2011–2015). Of 68,375 medicated Venereology, 397 were diagnosed as reaction. Detailed history, including age, sex, past family history taken by patient, obtained. Patch testing done wherever feasible. Result: patients, included (0.58%), giving 5% rate. mean age 40.42 (±16.30; range 18 89 years). female male ratio 1.1: 1. Maculopapular rash common manifestation (50.88%), followed Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (13.85%), Fixed Eruption (12.85%), Eosinophilia Systemic Symptoms (10.08%). agents beta-lactam (16.55%), NSAIDs (12.18%), acetaminophen (8.62%). Conclusion: Prescription those drugs should be considered carefully so incidence can reduced.
